Bird watching in Sao Tome and Principe

The birdlife of the islands is exceptionally unique. Of the over 120 species recorded on Sao Tome and Principe, some 28 are endemics.

The Obo National Park offers dramatic landscapes with torrents and waterfalls on its slopes, luxuriant mountains which culminates in Pico de São Tomé (2,024 m), sheer cliffs over the sea, as well as primary rainforests filled with exotic birds, butterflies and lush vegetation.

Several tourist circuits have been created, like treks accompanied by experts on local flora and fauna to bird observation tour, in combination with staying overnight at the old plantations (the 'roças').
